Kimball's Commands

Kimball is still starting to learn different commands as he gets older. He is a very good listener and is still working on learning some commands. We all all have fun training him, but it's a ton of hard work.

Kimball is working on the basic commands like sit, down (lay down) and stand. He is getting better at some more complicated commands like load up (get in the car), you're free (eat your meal), and go place (settle on your bed.) He is really improving. He now knows that we have to say "You're free," before he can eat breakfast or dinner. He always sits next to the bowl, staring at it until we give him the command to eat. He sits next to the bowl and we don't even have to tell him because he just wants that food so bad. While he waits, he sometimes even drools!

Kimball is a really good listener, and is still working on the basic commands. When I tell him to sit, he usually gets unfocused before he sits. He needs to learn that the more he gets unfocused, the more I wait until he does the command. He is also working on the command stand. He knows when to stand, and he needs to focus when I do the hand motion. When Kimball knows the commands better, he will be able to earn a jacket that says GUIDE DOG IN TRAINING. PLEASE DO NOT PET. When Kimball knows not only the basics, but the complicated commands too, I know he will earn his jacket in a heartbeat.

Our Visit to Snowshoe

My family bought a condo in Snowshoe, West Virginia. We go there very often to ski in the winter, and to play outdoor activities in the summer. Since we go to Snowshoe very often and we just got Kimball, we decided to take him with us. Kimball really enjoys the condo. The minute we got in the condo, Kimball had some serious sniffing to do!

Kimball is a very good boy. My whole family was a little worried about bringing him to our condo with us. It turns out that he loves the condo and enjoys himself here. He loves the snow in Snowshoe too. When I took Kimball on our porch at our condo to get busy (go to the bathroom) instead of getting busy, he stuck his whole face into the snow, not caring how cold the snow was.

Kimball loves to have fun with us! We take Kimball on the ski hill when everybody leaves, and we have tug-a-war fight. Kimball usually wins.

We all had fun together at Snowshoe. Kimball seemed to enjoy the trip the most. He loved the snow, he loved to play on the mountain and he loved to enjoy himself  at our tiny condo.

Kimball's Visit to the Vet

Kimball is a very silly puppy! A couple weekends ago, we went to the vet to get him weighed. Kimball is always a good boy when we get in the car, but whenever my mom walks to the other side of the car, Kimball quickly climbs on the driver's seat! Every time my mom gets to the other side of the car, she sees Kimball ready to drive!

When we got Kimball weighed, he was 52.6 lbs! He is going to be a very big boy. He is already heavier than my 7 year old brother! I hope he doesn't become bigger  than me.

Kimball is a silly, big, and fun boy. We all enjoy having him in the family.  Kimball can sometimes pick something up he really shouldn't, but he still needs to learn. He is only a five month old lab.

Stories About Kimball

Kimball is funny, affectionate, and a joy to have at home! We are still getting used to each other, little by little. Training Kimball is a lot of hard work. As we work with him, it will get easier and maybe a bit more fun. Kimball is a sweet dog and my whole family is starting to get attached to him.

Kimball is extremely social. My really good friend, Emily came over. Her mom walked in with her and Kimball lunged at Emily's mother and started to lick her legs like there was no tomorrow! Emily's mom started to scream and ran away. Kimball, of course, followed her and started to lick her legs again. It started from screaming, to running, to throwing pillows! Kimball is such a dope!

Kimball is also a smart dog. A four-month old is smarter than he looks! My mom was upset about Kimball using our basement as his toilet! All of us would put chairs in front of the basement entrance. That seemed to work until he saw a gap and was able to squeeze through. My dad was able to build a gate to put on the basement entrance. Kimball came and saw the gate. He didn't need to think about getting through. He just squeezed through one of the gaps between the bars and he was down the stairs! Never say your dog is dumb!

Kimball is a joy to have! He is also a dopey dog! Kimball is perfect for our family! He is funny, like my dad, he is smart like my mom, he is affectionate, like my brother, and he is awesome, like ME!
